Art Oslo is an independent guide to the great museums and galleries of Oslo, written for travellers who want more than opening hours. Each entry sets a museum in its history, points to the works worth crossing the city for, and offers honest, practical advice on visiting.
Independent and unaffiliated
We are not connected to any of the museums described here, nor to the city of Oslo or its tourism bodies. We receive no payment for inclusion and accept no advertising from the institutions we cover. That independence is the whole point: our only loyalty is to the reader standing in the ticket queue.
How we work
Every museum in this guide has been visited in person. Details such as opening hours, ticketing and transport change often, so while we keep our pages current we always recommend confirming the essentials on a museum's official website before you travel. If you spot something out of date, we would be glad to hear from you.
